Bird Photography

Fast wings, tiny subjects, harsh light — bird photography is a useful patience practice. These frames come from the andyharner.com gallery. Older AI tags had buried several coastal birds under “seascapes”; they’ve been re-filed by species, each with a Wikipedia link.

Field checklist

  1. Scout light first (open shade or soft morning/evening sun).
  2. Pick one perch, feeder, or shoreline and wait.
  3. Use continuous AF + burst; review histograms later.
  4. Crop thoughtfully; keep eye sharpness as the priority.
  5. Tag species when you can — filenames alone miss a lot.
